Marine Indole Alkaloids
Marine indole alkaloids comprise a large and steadily growing group of secondary metabolites. Their diverse biological activities make many compounds of this class attractive starting points for pharmaceutical development. Several marine-derived indoles were found to possess cytotoxic, antineoplastic, antibacterial and antimicrobial activities, in addition to the action on human enzymes and rec...
متن کاملPlants containing pyrrolizidine alkaloids: toxicity and problems.
Pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PA) are toxic for human and livestock. They undergo a metabolic toxication process in the liver which is the first target organ for PA poisoning. Worldwide many episodes of human PA intoxications are well reported. In many cases the reason for these intoxications has been PA contamination in food. The main tools for analysing food and fodder on PA content are based on G...
متن کاملMicrobial Hydroxylation of Indole Alkaloids.
The hydroxylation of the indole-type alkaloids, yohimbine, alpha-yohimbine, beta-yohimbine, and corynanthine, was achieved with several genera of higher fungi and species of Streptomyces. Microorganisms were found which monohydroxylated these compounds in three different positions. The site of hydroxylation was strain-specific for two strains of Cunninghamella echinulata and C. bainieri.
متن کاملBiosynthesis of the indole and Colchicum alkaloids.
There has been enormous progress over the past fifteen years or so in our understanding of the ways in which complex natural products are synthesized in living systems. In the field of alkaloids, as elsewhere, research during the initial phase1 pin-pointed those substances which are used as the common building blocks, examples being acetic acid, ornithine and lysine for the reduced systems, and...

Peroxy-containing metabolitesare an interesting group amongbiological active natural compounds. These metabolites contain a peroxide group (-O-O-) in which each oxygen atom is bonded to the other oxygen an to another atom. β-Oxygen in hydroperoxide group is considered as moreactive.Present review describes research on more than 100 natural hydroperoxidesand rare acyclic peroxides isolated from ...
